Internet Merchant Account Lets You Take Online Credit Card Payments

Provision, Inc will assist you in establishing an internet merchant account for your business. This internet merchant account will allow you to accept credit cards from your customers who want to buy your products and services online.  The requirements for an online merchant account are the same as a storefront merchant account.

The process of creating an online credit card merchant account is about the same as setting up a credit card merchant account for your store.  Ecommerce for your business or, taking credit cards online, has the same merchant application to create the merchant account as for your store.  You submit an application for underwriting to the processor, but the merchant account that is created is a "card not present" merchant account.

This is different from the credit card processing account that you have setup for your store.  You can see all the costs associated with the internet merchant account here.  In fact, you can have two merchant accounts, one for your store that is a "card present" merchant account, and one for your website, a "card not present" merchant account.

Once the the processor approves your application you will have an internet merchant account number issued to your business.  The online merchant account will be established at HSBC Bank USA.  You will have to purchase a license for an Authorize.Net payment portal.  This license is available from Provision, Inc

The payment portal is placed in the shopping cart on your website.  The payment portal allows credit card transactions to be created inside your website.  A customer can go to the shopping cart on your website and buy one of your products by entering their credit card number.

The resulting credit card transaction is encrypted by the payment portal using SSL-encryption.  This keeps the online credit card payment safe as it is sent into the banking system.  You will need to have your website developer to attach the payment portal to the shopping cart in your website once your online merchant account is established and you have purchased the license for Authorize.net.
